Travel to Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada

Waterton Lakes National Park - This magnificent National Park was first created in 1895. In 1932, Waterton Lakes joined with Glacier National Park of Montana to become the Worlds' first International Peace Park. UNESCO declared the area a World Heritage Site in 1995. The park also maintains the distinction of having the first producing oil well in Western Canada. Waterton is 203 sq. miles or 525 sq. kilometers in size. Accommodation in the park includes hotels, motels, and lodges as well as several campgrounds: The Townsite Campground (238 sites) and the Crandell Mountain Campground (129 sites). Waterton Lakes National Park offers a wide variety of activities such as hiking, golfing, boating, cycling, and fishing, all of which provide visitors a breathtaking view of the mountainous area. The park is accessible year round and a National Park entrance fee will be collected starting the third Monday in May until September 30. Phone: (403) 859-2224

Waterton Natural History Museum - The Heritage Centre is located in the old fire hall on Main St. It is a small museum with exhibits of human and natural history, operates a bookstore and changing art gallery. Waterton Shoreline Cruise - Scenic 2 hour cruise along the shoreline of Waterton Lake that takes visitors across the international border into the US. Cruise schedules 1/2 hour stop at Goat Haunt, Montana where guests can hike or spend the day and return on a later cruise. Also offer Hikers Shuttle service to Crypt Lake. Phone: (403) 859-2362.

The Historic Kilmorey Lodge-
is one of the original buildings in the townsite and began receiving guests in the late 1920's. The beautiful log style building is reminiscent of a country inn, furnished with antiques and treasures collected over the years. Photographs from days gone by line the hallways, a visual history of the lodge and the early years of Waterton Lakes National Park. Each room is decorated with antique furniture, and a beautiful down comforter on every bed. Fine dining is always a pleasure in the award-winning Lamp Post Dining Room, or enjoy a cocktail in the Ram's Head Lounge. For the outdoor atmosphere in the summer months, the casual Gazebo Cafe overlooks the serene beauty of Emerald Bay.
